COVID-19 Stay At Home Orders & NAA Guidelines

9/13/2021

The Apartment Association is committed to its members and will continue to provide guidance information related to Covid-19. Please be advised this is information only and not intended as a mandate or change to any company policy.

The Governor issued a Stay at Home Order that will go into effect from 5:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2020 until Monday, April 13, 2020 unless terminated sooner. How does that impact our industry? Because the multi-family apartment industry is deemed to provide “critical infrastructure” to the nation, rental offices and other business operations are not required to close under the Stay at Home Order. However, we must reduce operations and continue with minimum contact with members of the public and essential employees, while requiring proper social distancing. Further, the 10-person limitation on gathering size shall apply to our business operations.

The Apartment Association of Louisiana reached out to members through out the state on their operations, and below are reasonable measures companies are implementing.

  • Most leasing offices are closed to the public, staff is reporting and using social distancing. Very few properties are doing tours by appointment only.
  • Maintenance is on call for emergencies only. Some are working in make ready units, trash clean up and cleaning of common areas.
  • All amenities are closed to residents, such as pools, club rooms, gyms etc.
  • Residents are communicating by, text, email, phone or resident portal
  • Rent payments & signing of leases are being done online. If residents are unable to conduct business online, offices are providing drop boxes for leases and rent payments to be dropped into
